She was born April 30, 1898, in Wayne County, a daughter of the late George W. and Mary E. Ward Cornwell. She was a member of First Guyandotte Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell J. Ayers, in 1958; and three sons, Clarence F. Ayers, Herschel Ayers and Ray F. Ayers. Survivors include two sons, Russell J. Ayers, Jr. and Harold E. Ayers, both of Huntington; one daughter, Opal P. Childers of Proctorville, Ohio; two brothers, Albert Cornwell of Wayne County and Rueben Cornwell of Ashland, Ky.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Reger Funeral Home.
