Albert C. Rothe was born in Dresden, Germany, June 9, 1879. In 1898 Mr. Rothe came to West Union where on September 24, 1901 he was united in holy wedlock with Miss Pauline Volkmann.
Mr. and Mrs. Rothe resided on their farm in Orange township, Douglas county since their marriage until he was called out of his life on November 13 after becoming seriously ill Sunday, Nov. 10th, which followed a lingering ailment.
The following children were born to this union: Louis (Mrs. Richard Fitagibbon), Elsie of Portland, Ore., Arthur of Thorne, Nevada, Margaret (Mrs. Theodore Fischer) of Marshfield, Ore., Walter and Mildred of St. Paul and Ervin, Alfred and Doris at home.
He leaves to mourn his demise all of his children, his wife and aged mother who has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Rothe since July 8, 1922, also two grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his father, who passed away on March 13, 1922 and his only brother in 1903 at Rio De Janeiro, South America. May the Lord especially comfort his aged mother who has outlived her husband and all of her children.
Funeral services were held Nov. 18th at St. John's Lutheran church of Villard, Rev. Edward Menzel officiating. Interment took place in Kinkead cemetery. Pallbearers were Herman Schumacher, Herman Jacobs, Herman Rosenow, Herman Kutlow, Paul Neumann and Wm. Nordman.
