John D. Adams, 111 North Elm street, died at noon Sunday, at Bethany hospital, Kansas City, following a third operation for an ulcerous condition of the chest. The body will be brought here tomorrow, to Lamb Funeral Home.

Mr. Adams was 56 years of age. He was son of Eli D. Adams late of this city, and grandson of the late Joseph Black of Peoria, one of the earliest settlers of Franklin county. He is survived by the widow, his second wife, and one son, Harry Adams of Coffeyville; two brothers, Joseph Adams of Peoria township, and Charles Adams of Rodondo Beach, California; three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Brinkman and Mrs. Minnie Simpkins of Kansas City, and Mrs. E. M. Clarke of this city. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen.

At an autopsy held this morning, it was found that one lung was in a cancerous condition. Mrs. Adams had been in failing health two years and was taken to the hospital a week ago.

The funeral will be held from the residence Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. J. G. Olmsted of Christian church officiating. Interment is to be in Hope cemetery.
