Margaret Hammer of Livingston Manor, a homemaker and a lifelong area resident, died July 19, 2004, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 83
years of age.

The daughter of the late Clay and Lillian Friehaut Amback, she was born May 8, 1921, in the Town of Callicoon. She was the widow of John M. Hammer who died after 63 years of
marriage. Mrs. Hammer was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church. She was survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Clark Heins of Monticello; a son and daughter-in-law, Grant and Jane Hammer of Woodbourne; a sister, Ruth Klinger of Roscoe; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Clara Mae Klinger. Funeral services were held at the Harris Funeral Home, West Street
at Buckley, Liberty with the Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating. Burial was made in the Bon Air Cemetery in Roscoe.
