Son of Jesse H. Krout and Elva C. Deveney; brother of David, Warren, Jesse, George, Lucinda, Elmer, Edna; husband of Annie V. Lau; father of Girard E., Ruth N., and Fae L. Krout. East Berlin Conrad D. Krout, 72, of West King St., who retired in 1969 as senior vice-president of Adams County National Bank, died Wednesday at 10:07 a.m. at the York Hospital where he was a patient three days. Husband of Mrs. Annie V. Lau Krout, he was serving as a director of the bank at the time of his death. He was born in North Codorus twp., son of the late Jesse and Celesta Deveney Krout. Mr. Krout taught school prior to entering banking in 1921 with the Seven Valleys bank where he remained for 13 years. In 1934 he became cashier of the then new East Berlin Bank, which was about to be opened. He held that position until 1962 when he was elected president. Surviving also are a son, Gerald E. Krout, 1876 Marigold Lane, York; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Geiselman, 1905 Filbert St. York; and Mrs. Faye Stabley, 1940 Niagra Lane York; four grandchildren; three sisters. Burial will be in St. Paul's (Zeigler's) cemetery near Seven Valleys.
