Veteran Lansdale Resident Passes Away At Eighty-Three
Cecil Lanborn, many years a resident of Lansdale, dies at 3:000 o'clock this morning at North Penn Hospital, after a long illness. He was eighty-three years old.
Mer. Lanborn, who boarded at the home of Mrs. Howard Keiger, 220 Susquehanna avenue, for the past five years, had been bedfast since the end of May. His only son, Richard, of Erie, Pa., had been staying with him at the hospital, and had to leave yesterday afternoon.
The father, who was unconscious at the time, lived for only about twelve hours, and efforts are now being made to locate the son, who is in route to his home unaware of his father's death.
Mr. Lanborn, early in life, was in the coal and lumber business on Jenkins avenue. Later, he sold the business and joined the staff of the First National Bank of Philadelphia. He retired some years ago.
One of his principal interests, a quarter of a century or more ago, was the Lansdale Gun Club. He was usually among the leading scorers at the club shoots on Allentown Road.
His wife, May Seece Lanborn, was the daughter of a Lansdale physician. She died many years ago.
For eighteen Mr. Lanborn lived with his friend, the late E. J. Bennett, Lansdale attorney, on East Main Street, then went to Mrs. Keiger's home on Mr. Bennett's death, five years ago.
Richard was the only child. There are three grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.
