Funeral services will be today at 3:30 p.m. at Warsaw Baptist Church. Entombment will follow at Warsaw Devotional Gardens.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the 9th Armored Division of the U.S. Army and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Britt received the Croix de Guerre (France), and the Eamet Campaign Medal with three Bronze Service Stars. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant (Sergeant Major). He attended Campbell College and graduated from King's Business College.
Coming to Warsaw in 1948, he owned Duplin Trading Company, along with his late brother, Paul Britt, Sr. He was, also, a funeral director, being one of the charter members to establish Community Funeral Home of Warsaw, Inc.
He was a member of Warsaw Baptist Church where he served as church treasurer, deacon, and Sunday School teacher.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years; one son and his wife; one daughter and her husband; one sister; and four grandsons.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Martha Britt Rawls; two sisters, Alene McRae and Ida Mae Britt; and a brother, Paul Britt Sr.
Visitation was held on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Community Funeral Home of Warsaw.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Warsaw Baptist Church, 209 E. College St., Warsaw 28398.
