Melrose - Irene Estelle Ford, 98, passed away on October 25, 2013. She was born on June 19, 1915, in Mannville, Florida to Richard and Mary Vermeulen. She was a long time grocery store and restaurant owner in Melrose, Florida. She was a member of the Melrose Woman's Club for more than fifty years, the Melrose Homemakers Club for more than seventy-five years and the Hawthorne Eastern Star No. 52 for many years. She was a faithful member of Eliam Baptist Church in Melrose, Florida. She will be missed by all her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than fifty years, Carl A. Ford and her son, Carl A. Ford, Jr. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley Vermeulen, Johnny Vermuelen and Richard Vermuelen and one sister, Wanda Novak She has one surviving sister, Helen Lewis (Jack). She has four surviving daughters. Lila Bellerjeau (John), Mary Ann Simmons (John W.), Doris Whitener (Harry) and Virginia Kalos. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Arrangements are as follows: Viewing at Moring Funeral Home in Melrose, Florida on Friday, November 1, 2013 - 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Eliam Baptist Church in Melrose, Florida at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Eliam Baptist Church, 6009 N.E. Hampton Street, P.O. Box 509, Melrose, Florida 32666.
Arrangements are under the care of Moring Funeral Home, Melrose, FL.
