LEVI CRAWFORD CARPENTER
Levi C. Carpenter was born in Mississippi, March 16, 1859, and died August 27, 1927, and his remains were buried in Pine City Cemetery at 1 p.m., August 28, 1927.
He moved to Tennessee where, in 1878, he married Miss Melissa E. Lee, to which this union produced eight children. Rev. Rufus E. Carpenter, pastor of the Methodist Church at Bell City, MO; Mrs. Cora Traner and Mrs. Florence Hudgens, White Oak, MO; James Carpenter, Leachville, AR; Ethel McDonald and Lessie McDonald, Rector, AR, and Arthur Carpenter, who with Cora is deceased. His wife died 25 years ago.
Levi Carpenter had many friends and was loved by all who knew him.
In early life he joined the General Baptist Church and was a devoted Christian and church worker all his life. His years were ripe with many Christian deeds, and he will be greatly missed by both his church and the community in which he lived. He left behind him a good record, and a fine example to follow.
His wife has lost a loving husband and his children a devoted father, and many are left to mourn him.
His funeral was conducted by the writer and Rev. Joe Stockton at Frisbee General Baptist Church, Sunday, August 28th, at noon.
We join his relatives and other friends in their sorrow, and they have our sincerest sympathy. W.H. Paschal
