Mrs. Hattie Bell Bragg, early day resident of the San Luis Valley, died at her home in Del Norte Saturday evening at the age of 72.
Hattie Bell Simpson was born near Fountain, Colorado November 5, 1867, the second of a family of twelve. She came to the San Luis Valley at the age of seven with her family. The family made their home in and around Del Norte since that time.
On May 30, 1888, Miss Hattie Bell Simpson was united in marriage to LeRoy Bragg. To this union were born five children: William who died at the age of three; Nellie Ruth, also deceased; Hiram, Myrtle, and Mrs. Doris Jordan. Mrs. Bragg spent several years of her earlier married life in Summitville, during the 1890 boom.
Besides her son and daughters, Mrs. Bragg is survived by three grandchildren, Lee Hutchinson, Catherine Margaret, and Carol Lee Ann Jordan; one great-grandchild, Gary Lee Hutchinson; two sons-in-law, John Hutchinson and Lewis Jordan; four sisters, Mrs. G. C. Benson of Monterey, California; Mrs. Frank Edward of Naturita, Colorado; Mrs. Martha Hibler of Del Norte; five brothers, Ben, Monroe, Major, Frank, and Will Simpson, all of Del Norte.
Funeral services were held from the Del Norte Methodist Church with Rev. Jay L. Chestnutt officiating.
