Charlie was born in Floyd County, Virginia to Stanton R. Aldredge & Mary Jane Williams. He married Miriam Annie Custer in Virginia on 07 Feb 1884. They married at the bride's home in Floyd County, VA by Elder Woodson or Woodsom Cummings. Witnesses were her father and mother Mark Henry & Rhoda Custer.

He worked as a farmer and merchant in Tunstall, Pittslvania County, Virginia. He and his wife had 8 children together (2 of them died in infancy). They were in order of birth, Ella May, Grover Lee, James Henry, Rhoda, Unnamed Daughter, Posie Warner, Mary Esther & George Cabell Aldredge.

Charlie died at the young age of 39 on 24 Jan 1901 in Danville, Virginia.
