Martha Sue Jones, 70, of Rocky Mount, Va., died peacefully at home on Thursday, May 14, 2009, surrounded by her family and friends following a long battle with cancer. She was born January 4, 1939, a daughter of the late Odell Berkley and Vera Morris. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Melvin Jones. She was an avid gardener, crafter, great cook who enjoyed fishing and making hay on the farm. Her radiant smile and loving personality will be missed by all who knew her. Surviving are her #1 son, Sammy St.Clair; daughter, Debbie Ann Jones McCormick and husband, Danny; grandchildren, Kaleigh St.Clair and special friend, Brad Fanning, Jeremy Tyler St.Clair and special friend, Jennifer Carr, Whitney Danielle McCormick and special friend, Jamey Holley, and Haley Elizabeth McCormick; brother, Bobby George Morris and wife, Phyllis; and nephew, Craig Morris. Special thanks to the TOPS Girls, Carilion Hospice of Franklin County, Blue Ridge Cancer Center, and all the many friends who supported the family during Sue's illness and passing. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2009, from Flora Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Liz Lazenby officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
