Greg was born on March 4, 1927 in Newton Grove to the late James Walter and Lucille Gregory Summerlin, and lived in Goldsboro except during his military career. He was a life long member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force having served during WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict. Upon retiring from the military, he worked in the laboratory departments of Wayne Memorial Hospital and Seymour Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Saturday at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Norris, O.S.F.S. officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Greg is survived by his wife of 49 years, Myrna Collier Summerlin.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Summerlin Cox of Sumter, S.C. and a granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Saulmon.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 until 9 PM at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
