She was born on Sunday, December 20, 1936, in Hinton, W.Va., to the late Cecil Smith and Ann Smith Rasnake and had lived in Bristol for the last forty-five years. She received her B.S. degree from Radford University. She was a lab technician with Bristol Memorial Hospital and an agent with Webb Real Estate. She was an active member of Windsor Avenue Presbyterian Church, where she was involved with Women of the Church. She touched many lives through the Prayer Quilt Ministry of the church.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Ausmus; two daughters, Tamara Connolly, her husband Larry and their children Anna, Taylor and Jonathan, and Elizabeth, "Missy" Blankenship, her husband Chris and their children Mechala and Jon.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, May 17, 2009, at Windsor Avenue Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will be conducted at 3 o'clock, with the Rev. Charlie Murphy and Dr. Gordon Turnbull officiating. The committal and interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Bingham, Ron Buchanan, Leon Caudil, David Lestwich, J.B. Madison, and Bob Zeiger. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Barnett, Jackie Cox, Johnny Dickens, Dr. Thomas Green Jr., Connie Linburg, FNP, Dr. Suzanne Patton, Randy Pippin, Dr. Sue Prill, Parvin Reed and Glen VanDyke.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Thomas Green Jr., Dr. Suzanne Patton, Dr. Sue Prill, Connie Linburg, FNP, and all the nursing staff at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
