Amos P. Rozell, 85,, of Wautoma died on August 22, 2001 at Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 11, 1916 in Plainfield, the son of Alfred and Cora Nigh Rozell. He was formerly married to Elizabeth Kiehnau. He married LaVerne M. Schmidt on May 8, 1972.
Amos served his country in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Mr. Rozell was a 55 year member of Steamfitters Local 601 of Milwaukee. He farmed for many years in the Town of Wautoma until his retirement. Amos will be remembered as an avid buyer and seller of tractors.
He is survived by his wife, LaVerne Rozell, Wautoma; three children, Phillip J. Rozell, Texas, Karen A. Bauer, Wautoma, Jeffery A. Rozell, Wild Rose; three stepchildren, Joane P. (Ken) Kaiser, Colgate, Jan N. (Robert) Flower, Cedarburg, Jackie H. (Lee) Reynolds, Greenfield; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Cora Mae (Jim) Turner, Nekoosa; other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Oscar and Floyd; three sisters, Ruth, Ruby, and Julia; one son-in-law, Alfred W. Bauer; and one step-son, Clarence Schmidt, Jr.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 27, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma with the Rev. John Steinbrecher officiating. Burial will be in the Plainfield Village Cemetery.
Relatives and friends called from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma, is assisting the family with arrangements."
