Elmer Elwood Harrell, 79, of the Poplar Hill Community, Pearisburg, passed away Thursday, October 7, 1999, at the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Rehabilitation Center. He was born January 29, 1920, at Poplar Hill, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Rufus & Mary Riddle Harrell; two brothers, Russell Harrell and Raymond Harrell; one sister, Pauline Bassler. He was a veteran of World War II and was retired from Radford Army Ammunition Plant. He was a devoted husband and father and a friend to many. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Weeks Harrell; one son & daughter-in-law, Michael & Tammy Harrell, Pearisburg; one grandchild, Emily Harrell; two brothers, Woodrow Harrell and Roger Harrell, both of Dublin; three sisters, Hazel Kuczewski, Dublin, Lorraine Keffer, Pearisburg, Myrtle Bychkowski, Boothwyn, PA; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate with the Rev. Billy Akers officiating. Burial in the Appalachian Conference Pentecostal Holiness Cemetery, Dublin. Visiting will be at the funeral home Friday after 1 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
