Yesterday afternoon at about 5 o’clock an accident occurred at the North Lebanon Brewery of Mr. C. Ganster, in Independent District, which resulted in the death of a young man who was well known throughout the town. We refer to Mr. John Yost, who since the brewery was sold to Mr. Ganster, has been employed there. He was in the act of stepping across one of the vats to get at the window, when he slipped and fell into it. The vat contained about three feet of scalding water, and the whole of his body was burnt with the exception of his face, and while he lingered suffered intense pain. Dr. V. H. Allwein was at once summoned to attend the case and done all in his power to ease the pain and condition of the poor man, but all in vain. He died at 5 o’clock this a.m. The funeral of Mr. Yost will take place on next Friday morning; interment on Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The deceased and his brother Frank, after the death of their father, conducted the brewing business, but having received a favorable offer of C. Ganster, sold it, and since then the deceased has been working there. Mr. Yost was a member of the Union Fire Company. He was aged about 29 years and leaves a wife and five children to mourn him.
