In 1964 she, her husband and their two children moved to Oregon, where they settled in West Salem and later Rickreall.
Marty worked as a custodian at Oregon College of Education, now Western Oregon University. She was employed for more than 20 years with the college and moved on to the Academy Building with the Dallas School District, for whom she briefly worked.
After her retirement from the educational system, Marty was a caregiver for her three grandchildren.
Marty had many hobbies and interests and enjoyed camping, animals, her flower garden and playing bingo at the care center. She enjoyed trips to the beach and the casino, and was the owner of an impressive Barbie collection. She was also an active square dancer. Her greatest love was spending time with her family.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Oak Grove Grange, Independence Wagon Wheeler's Square Dance Club, Rickreall Christmas Pageant, and an active participant with Jobs Daughters. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, in 1994 and grandson, Brian Rocha, in 2008.
Survivors include her daughter, Doris (Danny) Rocha of Rickreall; son, Mel Murphy of Dallas; brother, James Barrett of North Carolina; two granddaughters; and a great-grandson.
