Chester Bingham Hinsdill served as Chief Commissary of the Military Division of West Mississippi during the Civil War.After the war,he served as Clerk of the U.S. District and Circuit Courts. (1875-1885)He also served as Commissary of the Michigan Soldier's Home in Grand Rapids,and was a member of the Custer GAR Post in Grand Rapids.He married Julie Mathews on September 16,1868 in Ohio.
