Mr. McCarty came to Michigan from New York State in 1840, settling in the township of Keene, Ionia County; moved to Kent County in 1875 settling upon the farm where he fell asleep in Jesus Oct 30 inst. He professed faith in Christ in early life and lived faithful to his convictions to the end. He leaves three sons and three daughters. A large circle of friends mourn his loss. He was a kind neighbor and affectionate father. The friends have the sympathy of the community in this hour of bereavement.
