MARKLEVILLE – Robert E. Collier , 60, former Madison Heights principle and Markleville resident died early this morning at Winona Hospital in Indianapolis.

A native of Markleville, Collier served a principal of Madison Heights High School from 1956 to 1973 and director of Pupil Personnel Service for Anderson Community Schools until his death.

He was a member of the Markleville North Christian Church, Markleville Masonic Lodge 620, Anderson Chamber of Commerce, Anderson Administration Association and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Indiana Central Varsity Club and served on the Selective Service board. He graduated from Indiana Central and received his Masters degree and Administrative Certificate from Ball State University.

Survivors include his widow, Wilma E. (Hoppes) Collier and his father, Blaine Collier of New Kensington, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. George (Janene) Givens, Anderson; a son, Robert Collier, Shreveport, La.; a sister, Mrs. Harper (Wanda) Rector, Anderson and two granddaughters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bright Funeral Home in Pendleton with the Rev. Gerald Burnett officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.

Bob was also teacher and principal at Markleville High School, which has since consolidated with Pendleton High School to form Prndleton Heights High School.
