Louis W Blaylock, 80, Son of Ex-Mayor, Dies

Louis W Blaylock 80, of 3901 Euclid, son of the former mayor of Dallas, Louis Blaylock, died Sunday at his home after a long illness.

Born in Galveston, Blaylock moved to Dallas with his family in 1887. He graduated from old Bryan High School and attended Polytechnic College in Fort Worth, Upon graduation, he was associated with his fther in the Blaylock Publishing Company. One of the company's publications was "The Texas Christian Advocate," official organ of the Methodist Church, which was published for more than 50 years.He retired from the publishing business in 1936 to go into the real estate and investments business.

In 1905 he married the late Mrs Margaret Blaylock who died in 1933. They had seven children.

In 1942 he married Virginia Roberts Owens.

He was a long-time member of the Methodist Church and was a 32 degree Mason.

Survivors are his wife: four daughters, Mrs J E Watson, and Mrs Harry E Spencer of Irving and Mrs J D Vanderwoude and Mrs M C Turner of Dallas; three sons: Louis O Blaylock and
Lloyd Blaylock of Irving and George D Blaylock of Dalals, 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Geo. A Brewer Funeral Chapel, 3603 Ross, with Dr Robert Goodrich, pastor of the First Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jack Blaylock, Louis O Blaylock Jr., Lloyd Blaylock, Charles Blaylock, Glenn Blaylock and Dan Vanderwoude. Honorary pallbearers will be directors of the Gulf Insurance Company.
