Christian Sifford was born between 1765-1770 in Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. He was a prominent citizen of Frederick City, Md., and had been an under-professor at Heidelberg University previous to his coming to America. Christian was a well-read man, always occupying some public office of trust, judicial or otherwise,he came to Fairfield county, on a visit, and died at Lancaster in 1848. His wife, Lizzie (Stottlemire) Sifford, died in Maryland about 1846.
