Danforth Acker

Danforth Acker died last Monday evening from an attack of the asthma, after a few hours illness. He had worked as usual all day and the news of his death was a shock to the community.

Forty-three years ago the 29th of June there was joy in a home in East Townsend, Ohio, for God had blessed the home of Isaac and Arabella Acker with a son, Danforth Acker. On May 1, 1905, there was joy in heaven, for God had received this soul back unto himself - a soul worthy of the salutation, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."

In 1886 Mr. Acker and family moved from Ohio, to Branch County, Michigan, where four years later the son was converted and became a member of the M.E. Church. In the fall of 1898 the family moved to Medina, Michigan, where they have since resided. A little over a year ago the mother was taken to heaven, and now the son has joined her leaving another vacant place in the home, and a father, sister and betrothed to mourn their loss. The church has lost an earnest and sincere worker and the Christian Endeavor society one of its most faithful members. He was seldom absent from the choir, and his singing, as well as his helpful prayers, and testimonies, was an inspiration. His loss will be deeply felt here, and the voice, now stilled, greatly missed.

Surely no greater monument could be erected to a human soul than the words which are universally spoken of our brother in highest commendation of his startling worth and noble character.

The funeral was held from the M.E. Church Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. E. W. Oaster.
