Victoria was born in Niagra Falls, Wisconsin in 1901 to Edward/Isydor and Rosalia/Rose/Pola on Saint Victoria's Day. Her father was born in 1865 Austria/Poland and mother in 1867 in Germany. They met in Iron Mountain, Michigan when Victoria's mother was doing domestic work there. Her mother died in November 1909 of cancer when she was growing up (about 9) and her father died in 1939 when she had been married to Andrew. Victoria's mother's maiden name was pronounced kra-cek (Kratzick).
At 16 years of age, Victoria married Andrew Bilski in 1918 before Andrew went in service. Both came from Polish and Catholic backgrounds. I recall them speaking Polish outside so the neighbors wouldn't know what they were discussing. Sadly, I didn't either. My mother (Bernice) told me Victoria's side had included Hungarian nationality as well as Polish.
Victoria had four living children: Bernice Marie Reynolds, John Andrew Bilski, Walter Bilski and Joan Kay Bilski.
Victoria and Andrew 1st had a blonde daughter named Frances that only lived a week after she was born in 1919 and her oldest child was named after her sister who didn't have an opportunity to live. Frances is buried in the same plot but the cemetery made the decision to cut down the tree after she was buried. The 1967 cemetery workers could not find Frances' coffin when digging Andrew's grave. Her older sister, who was named same, is buried with her parents at Quinnesec/Breiting MI cemetery but has no marker of her own. Many of our ancestors did not rely on spelling of 1st names for girls or boys as we do now.
Victoria's siblings were Mike/Nick (sometimes called "Buck"), Mary (married Walter Malinowski and moved to Minnesota), Stanley, Joseph, John and Walter.
