Crawford Eugene "Gene" Coulter, 79, of Camp Hill, died Monday May 18, 2009 at Manor Care, Camp Hill.
A graduate of Rostraver High School in Belle Vernon, PA, he retired from Pennsylvania Military Affairs Fort Indiantown Gap as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 and Schools Program Manager for Pennsylvania. He also served in Washington, D.C. at the Pentagon NGBARO-O and NGBARO-S.
He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was among occupational forces of Germany. He served in the 28th Division Infantry from 1948-1967, and was a graduate of the U.S. Army Personnel Officers Course and Senior Warrant Officer Course. He received the National Guard Bureau Minute Man Award and received the U.S. Army Commendation Medal. He is a past commander of the Wormleysburg VFW Post 1462; was a life member of the Mechanicsburg VFW Post 6704, the U.S. Navy Commissioned Officers Club, Mechanicsburg Navy Depot and The Retired Officers Association (TROA); and was a member of Mechanicsburg American Legion Post 109.
Born June 28, 1929 in Dawson, PA, he was the son of the late Rev. Crawford McCoy Coulter and Helen Bell Coulter, he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Coulter Nolte, and his brother, Robert M. Coulter.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lois Coslett Coulter; four daughters, Stephanie A. Rejniak, and her husband Stephen, of Hamburg; Barbara J. Kauffman and her husband Michael, of Mechanicsburg; Jill L. Sarka and her husband Lee, of Dillsburg; and Susan E. McNaughton and her husband Keith Sr., of York Haven; eight grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday May 21, 2009 at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. A viewing will be held on Wednesday May 20th from 7:00-9:00 P.M. in the Myers-Harner Funeral Home, 1903 Market St, Camp Hill.
