Mrs. Hlavaty was born in Lillie on Jan. 25, 1931 and died at home on Jan. 30. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and the Glory Ministries. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Rose Washam; sister, Trudy Hunt; brothers, James (Brother) Washam, Dwayne Washam, and Mickey Washam.
Betty Jo is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. (USAF Retired) Edward L. Hlavaty; daughters, Laura Huffman and husband Jerry, Julia Rockett and husband Brian; grandchildren, Zachary Huffman, Chelsea Huffman, Nathaniel Rockett; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Mrs. Hlavaty's nephews. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Feb. 1 at Bethel Baptist Church in Lillie under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.
