Funeral services for Betty Jo Washam Hlavaty, age 78, of Lillie were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 2 at Bethel Baptist Church in Lillie. Rev. Marty Black officiated assisted by Minister Debra Peregrine. Interment followed in Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Lillie under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.
Mrs. Hlavaty was born in Lillie on Jan. 25, 1931 and died at home on Jan. 30. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and the Glory Ministries. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Rose Washam; sister, Trudy Hunt; brothers, James (Brother) Washam, Dwayne Washam, and Mickey Washam.
Betty Jo is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. (USAF Retired) Edward L. Hlavaty; daughters, Laura Huffman and husband Jerry, Julia Rockett and husband Brian; grandchildren, Zachary Huffman, Chelsea Huffman, Nathaniel Rockett; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Mrs. Hlavaty's nephews. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
