"News reached this city early yesterday morning of the death of Mrs. Johanna Bass Banks, which occured in Savannah, Ga, Thursday night. Mrs. Banks is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. V. Bass of this city. Her death is surrounded by very sad and touching circumstances, it having been but a very short time since she lost her little 3 year old daughter, a most beautiful child. Heartfelt sympathy is extended to the mother and father. Due notice of the funeral will be given, but it is not known exactly at what time her remains will arrive".

The remains of Mrs. M. J. Banks (nee Johanna L. Bass), who died in Savannah, Ga., Thursday night, arrived in Biloxi yesterday afternoon at 6 o'clock and were conveyed to the residence of the deceased's father, Mr. V. Bass, on Howard avenue. The funeral will take place at 4 o'clock this afternoon from the residence, Rev Father Alphonse conducting the services. The cortege will later proceed to the new Catholic church where services will be continued".
