Mrs. J. M. Batholomew [sic], of Red Oak, Iowa, formerly of this village, died at the residence of her father-in-law, Mr. G. M. Bartholomew, Sunday night at 11 o'clock, of pulmonary consumption. Some weeks ago she came from her new home in Iowa in company with her father-in-law, as it was said at the time, to die, and we know not that any hope of her recovery has since been entertained. Her father, step mother, and brother arrived in town Sunday to see her before she died, and on Monday morning, by the half past four train, her husband arrived from Iowa, but too late to see her alive. The funeral took place on Tuesday, and her remains were laid in our cemetery to await the summons of the resurrection morn, with the joyful hope of eternal happiness in the world to come.
