The funeral will be held at 2 pm Friday, May 15, 2009, at Liberty Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
A life-long resident of Rockingham County, Mrs. Tucker was born September 18, 1915, to the late Samuel Franklin Gann and Emma Case Gann. She was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for over 60 years and was involved in many outreach programs in the community and church. She loved children, working at her church, crafts, sewing and gardening. She will be remembered for her witness and testimony of love. ("I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4:7)
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Sam Tucker; son, Everette Winfred Joyce; grandson, William Carter, Jr.; and stepson, Donald Smothers.
Survivors include daughters, Linda J. Holland of Reidsville, Shelby J. Hundley of Salisbury; stepdaughter, Betty T. Marks of Laplata, Maryland; son, Danny Wayne Joyce (Julie) of Winston-Salem; brothers, Willie Gann of Stoneville and Lloyd Gann (Betty) of Burlington; sisters, Gracie Gann of Mayodan, Lena Priddy of Lawsonville, and Juanita Holder (Dale) of Greensboro; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
