VINCENT - Helen M. Green, 80, of Vincent, passed away on Tuesday evening (May 19, 2009) at her home.
She was born on Nov. 6, 1928, in Independence Township, a daughter of Herbert and Mamie Miller Decker. Helen had been employed as a nurse's aide at Marietta Memorial Hospital and as a clerk at National Drug Store. She was a member of Sixth and Washington Streets Church of Christ and attended House of Hope.
On Jan. 6, 1946, she married Neil F. Green, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son and two daughters, John P. Green of Centerville, Mich., Pamela S. Green (Charles) Hess of Marietta, Penny L. Green (Michael) Nicholson of Marietta; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Kate Lankford Anderson of Marietta; her caregivers and friends, Roger and Loretta Korte; sister-in-law, Evelyn Decker; and two beloved dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Robert, Ford, Patrick and John Decker; and sisters, Grace Gearhart and June Guckert Strauss.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (May 22, 2009) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home. Burial will be in Beverly Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. today and until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
