Orval T. Jones
Orval T. Jones, 91, St. Paul, died today at his home.
Born June 24, 1907, in Decatur County, he was the son of John P. and Flora B. (Shipp) Jones.
He first married Alta (Gurley) Jones, who preceded him in death. He married Lorene (Driver) Jones in 1950. She died Nov. 4, 1995.
Mr. Jones was the owner of Jones Bottled Gas Co. in Shelbyville before retiring in 1970.
He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Shelby County.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Harley (Ella) Carew, St. Paul; Mrs. Notrie (Mary) McClure, Greensburg; and Mrs. William (Patricia) Kelley, Phoenix; a son, Orval Jones Jr., Indianapolis; a sister, Naoma Treitche, Anderson; 18 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Glenn E. George Funeral Home, St. Paul.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. L.J. Poe officiating. Burial will be in Mount Aire Baptist Cemetery, Letts Corner, Decatur County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Decatur County, in care of the funeral home.
