RUMSEY Nona Jean Macklanburg Hulsey, died Wednesday morning, August third after a short hospitalization resulting from a progressive lung illness. She was born in 1923 in Oklahoma City. She was the only child of Pansy and L.A. Macklanburg, the founder of Macklanburg-Duncan Company. Nona Jean attended Classen High School, Mary Baldwin College and the University of Oklahoma. She was married to Bill Hulsey from 1943 until his death in 1982. They had four daughters and eight grandchildren. She married Joseph F. Rumsey from Oklahoma City in 1990. Her marriage to Joe represented four of the happiest years of her life. Nona Jean actively supported the artistic community in Oklahoma and Scottsdale, Arizona. She was a talented artist who expressed herself in oil painting, pottery, sculpture, pastels, silver smithing and photography. She has been recognized for her exceptional portraiture which was emphasized in her work. She was an eccentric and influential woman whose devotion to esthetics was equally as strong as her love of fishing and hunting. Jeans extensive travels resulted in an extraordinary collection of Mexican folk crafts and Oriental art. She felt deeply responsible for continuing the families involvement in Macklanburg Duncan Company. She is especially remembered for the hundreds of pints of award winning pickles that she made every summer. She is survived by her husband, Joseph F. Rumsey, III; four daughters, Louanne Ellis of Boulder, Colorado, Linda Brewer of Glen Ellen, California, Jeannie Guthery of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Karen Samis of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Adria Ellis, Haylie Ellis, Matthew Brewer, Elizabeth Brewer, Clay Guthery, Chris Guthery, Carter Samis and Katharine Samis. The funeral will be at All Souls' Episcopal Church at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, the fifth of August. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the National Cowboy Hall of Fame for the Nona Jean Hulsey Buyers Choice Award at the Prix de West Invitational or to the donors choice. The family would like to thank all of Nona Jeans' friends for their support during her illness. We will all miss her. BIOG: NAME:
