William Foster Hightower was the son of Albert Fairchld and Mary Alice Partridge Hightower. He was born July 28, 1911 southwest of La Cygne in Linn County. He received his education in the country schools of Jayhawk, Fairview, Star Valley and Stoney Point. On Feb. 1, 1940, he and May Stainbrook were married in Garnett. They made their home in Linn County and became the parents of two sons. He spent his entire life farming in Linn County.
