NICHOLS - Harry L. Braun, 62, died suddenly of a heart attack at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Nichols Methodist church.

He had resided at Route 1 Nichols, Iowa. He was born May 14, 1905 at Nichols, the son of Henry S. and Henrietta Schlarbaum Braun and had been a life resident of that community.

Harry was a graduated of Nichols High School and Brown Business College in Muscatine. He served as Pike township assessor for many years. He was a county school director for Buffalo Bluff school and a 4-H leader for Pike Plucky Pikers for several years. He was instrumental in getting electric power out to the farming community in his area in 1939.

He married Felicitas Mills, May 20, 1931, at the Presbyterian church in Muscatine. Mr. Braun was a member of the Nichols Methodist church, and Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Stainless Lodge No. 445, Nichols plus the Masons. He served on different committees associated with farming in Muscatine County.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Felicitas Braun, Nichols; one son, Virgil Braun and wife, Donna, Nichols; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Shirley) Plumb, Davenport, and Mrs. Ronald (Marilyn) Baxter, Nichols; one brother, Roy, Nichols; one sister, Mrs. Walter Knetsch, Muscatine; and ten grandchildren.

His parents and one brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Nichols Methodist church with Rev. Carlin Curtis officiating. Pallbearers were Ray Wieskamp, Marion Barnhart, Robert Elder and Vernon Carter. Burial will be at the Nichols cemetery.

Ralph J. Wittich was in charge of the funeral services and burial was in the Nichols Cemetery.
