Henry S. Braun, 94, Nichols, Iowa died at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Tuesday, December 28, 1965 after a short illness.
Mr. Braun was born in Muscatine County, May 25, 1871, the son of Conrad and Margaret Schmidt Braun. Conrad came to this country in November 1847 as a young child. Henry was a life long resident of the Nichols community, having retired from farming in that area. He was an inventor of a road grader and loved gardening in his senior years.
He married Henrietta Schlarbaum, at Brighton, Iowa December 9th, 1896.
Surviving are two sons, Roy and Harry, both of Nichols, one daughter, Mrs. Walter Knetsch, Muscatine, two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Hartman, Aledo, Illinois, Mrs. Fred Range, Milford, nine grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
His wife and one son, Archie, preceded him in death.
Services were held at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home in Muscatine at 2:00 p.m. Friday. Pallbearers were Andrew Lord, Clifford Braun, Virgil Braun and Roger Braun.
Burial was in the Nichols Cemetery on Friday.
