David Clifford Abercrombie, of Wellford, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 19, 2009. He was 83.

A native of Laurens County, he was a son of the late Archie Clifford and Anna Babb Abercrombie.

Mr. Abercrombie was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, a member of Duncan United Methodist Church and Jackson Masonic Lodge #383. He was a retired employee of Lyman Printing and Finishing, where he worked as lead mechanic. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren and was an avid fisherman.

Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Henerey Abercrombie; two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy David and Denise Freeland Abercrombie of Anderson, and Mark Henerey and Mary Abercrombie of Travelers Rest; two daughters and son-in-law, Mary Anna Abercrombie and Richard Carter King of Lyman and Terry Jean Abercrombie Brietz of Spartanburg; two sisters, Ruth Abercrombie Freeman of Spartanburg and Joyce Abercrombie Cox of Myrtle Beach; seven grandchildren, Alyson Abercrombie Scales, Amy Abercrombie Rogers, Bradley Louis Brietz, Abby Jean Brietz Land, Faith Lauren Abercrombie-Neild, Kaci Maria King and Jimmy-Clifford "J.C" Winkler King; five great-grandchildren, Greyson Scales, Kaityln Scales, Jessica Scales, Maggie Rogers and Walker Brietz; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

Mr. Abercrombie was predeceased by two brothers, Archie Clifford Abercrombie and Jack Babb Abercrombie, and four sisters, Helen Abercrombie Johnson, Vera Abercrombie Thomason, Mary Abercrombie Owens and Thelma Abercrombie Dowis.
