Geraldine was born when her parents were living in rural Sask., Canada. They moved to Olmsted County, MN when she was 4.

Geraldine married Alden Aakre, a local man, January 3, 1945, according to articles and photos in local newspapers. Geraldine was 18 and Alden was 20.

They lived across the road from her inlaws, her husband's parents. They had one son and one daughter.

On December 3, 1955, Alden shot Geraldine while she slept at home in her bed. He left the home, running from the crime scene, in his vehicle.

When Alden's father learned of the murder, he called the local sheriff who sent out a group searching for Alden.

Geraldine and Alden are buried in the same lot at the Zion Cemetery, of the same church where they were married. She was survived by her two children, her parents, her brothers, James, Nicholas, and Duane; and by her sister Carol who married Glenn Aakre. Glenn was the brother of Geraldine's husband, Alden.

Alden died the same day as Geraldine, while running from the crime. Local newspapers also carry photos and the facts of these events.
