Mary Theresa Achter 10 of the town of Lyndon, passed away this morning at the St. Nicholas Hospital, of injuries sustained while playing all at the Waldo Grade School. The Achter girl, a pupil in the fourth grade was accidentally struck in the temple by a bat thrown by an 8 year old girl, during a softball game on the school playground Tuesday noon.
Attendants at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan, said the girl lapsed into unconsciousness Tuesday night and died less than 12 hours later. Dr. James F Hildebrand, county coroner, attributed death to a subdural hemmorrage.
Born November 21, 1941 in Sheboygan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Achter, she was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church at Cascade, receiving her first communion in June 1951.
Survivors are the parents; three sisters and a brother, Mrs. Robert (Joanne) Solberg of Minneapolis, Mrs. Dale (Faye) Born of the town of Lyndon, Lois and Glen at home; the paternal grandfather, Matt. Achter of Chilton; and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Williams of Sheboygan Falls.
Brief services at the Wittkopp Funeral home, Plymouth will be followed by a requiem high mass at St. Marys Catholic Church, Cascade. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
