THOMAS H. SEANEY DIES AT AGE OF 81 YEARS
"Thomas H. Seaney, 81, prominent farmer of west of LaGrange, passed away at the LaGrange County Hospital at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. He had been inactive for two years suffering hardening of the arteries and other ailments. He was taken to the hospital on Sunday, June 26, after a hard fall from his wheelchair.
The remains will be taken to the home from the Caton and Frurip Funeral Home Thursday evening. The funeral will be held at the Mount Zion Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. Fraiday in charge of Rev. Virgil L. Yohe. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Six grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Phillip Seaney, Randolph Field, Texas, John and David Fisher, Manistique, Mich., Rex Fisher of LaGrange, and Thomas of Indianapolis and Robert Seaney of Fort Wayne.
Mr. Seaney was born October 3, 1867 near Hazeltown (note; Hazlettville), Delaware. He married Bertha Lee at Fort Wayne in 1895. He served for years as a passenger train conductor on the Nickel Plate Railroad, making his home in Fort Wayne, but retired in middle life, moving to a farm in Spaulding County, Ohio, in 1903 and to LaGrange in 1910. He bought the former John Feller farm west of LaGrange on what is now U. S. 20 in 1921. The attractive farm home and the well kept farm attracted special attention and won recognition as one of Indiana's outstanding farm homesteads. Mr. Seaney achived success as an intelligent and skillful farmer and dairyman.
The deceased was a charter member of the LaGrange County Farm Bureau, holding membership for 30 years. He was a member of the Mount Zion Lutheran Church through the years. The served as chairman of the LaGrange county board for the Federal Land Bank for many years. He leaves an enviable record as a well informed and solid citizen.
Mr. Seaney is survived by the widow; by one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Mary) Fisher of LaGrange; by two sons, Clarence of LaGrange and Thomas LeRoy of Fort Wayne, and by ten grandchildren, the six mentioned pallbearers; Mrs. Frederick McClellen of Bloomington; Mrs. Fred Vick of Burke, Va.,; Miss Nancy Fisher of Fort Wayne and Stephen Fisher of LaGrange."
