Elmer Houghton Akin, 77 year old Yukon resident, died Saturday. Mr. Akin was born 4 days before statehood, November 3, 1907 in Oklahoma City. The son of Herbert J. Akin and Bertha Pearl Houghton Akin who have predeceased him. He graduated from Classen High School in 1927 and obtained a law degree from the Cumberland University Law School, in Lebanon Tennessee. He was in the insurance adjusting business representing various insurance companies. Mr. Akin was an active member and elder of the University Place Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; his daughter Dr. Gloria Rogers Hoggard and two granddaughters Nancy Rogers Robins and Holly Rogers; also a brother, Don H. Akin and nephew Donald H. Akin Jr. Elmer was interested in various charitable organizations and aided substationally to their needs. Funeral services Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the University Place Christian Church with burial at Piedmont, Oklahoma. Directed by Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper.
