James E. Simon Sr., 63, of New Albany died May 23, at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Louisville, a former employee of B.F. Goodrich Service Stores, a member of Veteran's of Foreign Wars Father's Auxilary and the leader of Country Sound Band.
He is survived by his wife, the former Shirley Sutton, which he had no children with, eight children by his first marriage to Martha Pauline Kelly Simon, four daughters, Diana Burton, Delores Devine, and Pamela Pigg, all of New Albany, and Debbie Williams of Georgetown, five sons, James E. Jr of Lanesville, Michael, Ronald and Donald all of New Albany and Tony Simon of Holton Lake, Michigan, two stepsons, Douglas Durbin of Louisville, and Anthony Durbin of Bowling Green, Ky, three stepdaughters, Della Willis and Tina Ober, both of Louisville, and Sandy Embry of Georgetown, 37 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Laverne (Bell) McDonald and Lonetta Steger, both of New Albany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry J. Simon and Georgia Mae Dowdle, two sisters, Susie M. Williams and Henrietta Johnson and a brother, John W. Simon Sr.
Services was at the Paul V. Shrader Funeral Home, New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
