~~She Loved Us ~~

Mom is not a big enough word for the wonderful woman who was a huge part of our lives. We say that she loved to cook. Her real joy was watching her kids eat and enjoy each other's company...and then her grandkids came along and they, too, joined us at the table. Eventually, there were great-grandkids, and they were welcomed, also! There were never too many people...No one was turned away from her home. She loved us.

Her hugs will long be remembered. She gave them out freely and lovingly. There was no limit on them. She was always there to wrap her arms around us during joy and sorrow. She loved us.

She smiled, too. She smiled no matter how hard life was or what challenges she faced. She never complained even during chemo. She made the other patients laugh with her. Every one who ever met her became a friend...most became family. She was called, "Grandma" by over half the people in the four-county area. She had a warm heart for all. She loved us.

We all saw her suffer and know she is now in a better place. But she will be missed. Deeply, deeply missed. We take comfort in the fact that one day, we will see her again. She will greet us at the gates of heaven. I can already see that bright, genuine smile and her arms out-stretched excitedly...waiting to embrace us. She will be there to walk us home. She loved us.

And we loved her, too.
