Norma J. Abar, 78, died at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center on May 23, 2009. Arrangements are with the Allen-Nichols Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.
A graveside service will on June 6, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the Notre Dame Cemetery, Ogdensburg with the Reverend Father James Shurtleff officiating. The memorial service will be for Norma and her son Anthony "Tony" Dishaw, who died in 2004.
Surviving her are her daughters, Charmaine and husband Gary Brabant, Cathleen Dishaw and Debra Dishaw and companion Shane Austin of Ogdensburg; daughters in law, Nancy and Judy Dishaw, Ogdensburg; brothers Richard and wife Jan Sargent, and Leonard and wife Jean Sargent, Ogdensburg; sister in law, Barbara Sargent, Potsdam; sisters Winifred England, Missouri, and Sister Maria Greta (Nancy Sargent), Watertown; and seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sons Anthony and Steven; a grandson, Timothy Dishaw; two brothers, Kenneth and Allen Sargent; and a sister, Shirley Beldock.
She was born in Ogdensburg, on August 14, 1930, the daughter of Alford and Jennie Lesperance Sargenton. She was a laundry aide at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center, until her retirement. She married Lawrence (Tarzan) Dishaw and Joseph (Bud) Abar ended in divorce.
She was a parishioner of Notre Dame Church. She loved going to garage sales and shopping with her children and friends. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
