She was a retired nurse and had been employed with pediatrics as assistant supervisor in Philadelphia, Pa. She also had been employed with the Berkeley Springs Hospital while raising her family. She was a member of the Hancock United Methodist Church.
∼Reba M. Hill, 95, formerly of Hancock, a resident of Homewood and Golden Living Center in Hagerstown, died Friday, May 22, 2009.
Born April 2, 1914, in Warfordsburg, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Belva Akers Palmer and the widow of Therman L. Hill, who died November 19, 1992.
She was a 1932 graduate of Warfordsburg High School and a 1935 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing.
She was a retired nurse and had been employed with pediatrics as assistant supervisor in Philadelphia. She also had been employed with the Berkeley Springs Hopsital while raising her family.
She was a member of Hancock United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters: Alice J. Coblentz, Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Wanda L. Zink, Middletown, Md.; a son, Donald L. Hill, Hagerstown; three brothers: Gorman Palmer, Hagerstown; Frank Palmer, Needmore; Charles Palmer, Warfordsburg; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; her last great-granddaughter was born on her 94th birthday.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Warren and Hayes Palmer; two sisters: Marie Crist and Blanche Morse and two infant brothers.
Services were held Wednesday, May 27, at 11:00 a.m., at Hancock United Methodist Church. Rev. Duane L. Jensen officiated. Burial was made in Rehobeth United Methodist Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, was in charge of arrangements.
