His was an old southern family, descendants of the French Hugeuenots. He served in the Confederate army during the civil war, and was a cousin of General C. A. DeSAUSSURE, past president of the Confederate Veterans.
He married Margaret BOWE in 1880. They moved to Dayton, Wash., where he entered the drug business. DeSAUSSURE had received his degree in pharmacy at the age of 19. Prior to his marriage he had been in the cattle business in Californa and Nevada.
In 1892 the famly moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where he entered the public utility field and served as present of a bank.
In 1918 he retired from active business and moved to Burlingame, California.
The deceased is survived by his widow, Margaret DeSAUSSURE, and 10 children, Alfred of Montana, Georgie, Leslie, Leo and Emmett of San Francisco, Mrs. Thomas FITZPATRICK and Mrs. William SODEMAN of Salem, Mrs. H. P. BECKERLEG of Oakland, California, Mrs. M. E. MEADE of Grants Pass and Mrs. William SHUTTLEWORTH of Chicago.
