Mildred is the third child born to the Late Mr. Andrew Ambers and Mrs. Lucille Corey Ambers. She obtained her education from the Sicily Island Public School System, graduating from the Rosenwald High School on May 22, 1958. She accepted the Lord at an early age uniting with the St. Paul Baptist Church where she remained a faithful and devoted member until her death. Mildred was an Usher and greeted everyone who attended not only St. Paul, but all of the other Churches through Sicily Island and neighboring Communities. She was employed by the Catahoula Parish School System for twenty-six (26) years. She began her employment on August 23, 1976 and retured June 1, 2002. The following sites were blessed to have her presence: Sicily Island Elementary School, Martin Junior High School, Sicily Island High School, and Jonesville Junior High School. She also worked as a substitute teacher in Franklin Parish, LA.

Mildred was united in marriage to Landon Branson, III. They were blessed by God with five lovely children. She leaves to cherish her memories: 2 sons, Russell (Charlotte) Branson, Sicily Island; Landon {Lori} Branson, IV, Monroe, LA; 3 daughters, Linda {Earl} Kerry, Shelia {Rev. Mitchell} Counsel, and Neomia Branson, all of Sicily Island. 7 sisters, Edna Bingham, Barbara Davis, Velma (Ray) Bailey, Bertha (Robert) Boykins, Detroit, Michigan; Marie Mullins, Redford, Michigan; Carrie Reynolds, New Orleans, LA and Katie Dorsey, Sicily Island. 3 brothers, Albert Ambers, Sicily Island, Minister Jackie R.{Bishop Ann} Ambers, Baton Rouge, and Andrew Ambers, Jr., Detroit, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Gloria Ambers Anderson; 22 grand-children, 16 great-grand-children. close friends, Miss Grace Bolden, Mrs. Sarah Robinson, Mrs. Jennie Mitchell; special niece, Linda Reynolds; special nephew, Lamar Ambers; and a multitude of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents {both sides}, a sister, Virginia Ambers and two brothers; Joe and Jerry Ambers.
