Fergus Falls Daily Journal 7/3/1940 Pg 9 - LIFE AND DEATH OF WM. ZAHN - Wm. Zahn, whose death was mentioned briefly in Tuesday's Journal, died at the Hanson Invalid Home in Pelican Rapids Monday evening, July 1. Mr. Zahn had been in poor health for several years and a year ago in June broke his hip. He was taken to the Invalid Home where he was tenderly cared for until his death.

Mr. Zahn was born at Herman, Wis., Dec. 11, 1867, and was 72 years, six months and 20 days old. He move to Elizabeth with his parents in 1878. In 1907 he married Miss Gertrude Ecke, who survives him. Besides his widow he is survived by one daughter, Louise at home, and by four brothers and four sisters. They are: Charles of Grand Forks, N.D.; Herman, Two Harbors; Emil and Fred of St. Cloud; Mrs. Bertha Niggler and Mrs. Ella Hill of Duluth; Mrs. Louise Lohmeier of Fergus Falls and Mrs. Rose Zimmerman of Conrad, Mont., as well as other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the German Lutheran church in Elizabeth at 2 o'clock, Rev. Grabarkewitz officiating.
