Holley - Etta L. King, 99, of Holley, died Saturday.

She was born in Organ, N.M. When she was 13 her mother brought her to the Rocky Point area near Holley to homestead. She attended High School in Sweet Home, at a time when classes were being held in one of the early churches.

She married Oran C. King May 16, 1917, in Albany. He died December 14, 1975.

Mrs. King served as a volunteer observer for the weather bureau for more than 50 years.

She is survived by children Ena Kirk of Holley, Ila Greenaway of Sweet Home, Doris Starr of Lebanon, Arene Kirk of Albany, Otis King of Anchorage, Alaska, June Dennison of Grass Valley, Calif., and Joy Koropp of Anchorage, Alaska; and twin sister Anna Malone of Portland. 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Sisters Mae Hufford, Mary Smith and Alice Tonkin, and brothers John and King Hufford, all died before her.

Viewing will be from 5 to 9p.m. Thursday at the Steckly-Tracewell Funeral Home. Mrs. King's funeral will be at 2p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home, with her grandson, Larry Greenaway, officiating.
