WILLIAM HEIDEMANN

COUNTY PIONEER FOUND DEAD IN BED-MILLHOME
William Heidemann, one of the oldtime and highly respected residents of the town of Schleswig, was called to his reward early Tuesday morning. He was found dead in bed by his wife when she awoke in the morning. Heart failure had ended his life during the night.

Deceased was born in Unckermark, Germany, January 4, 1852, and came to America as a child of six months with his parents, who settled in the town of Schleswig,
on the place now known as the Cedar Lake farm.
What was a wilderness at that time has through the help of Mr. Heidemann been transformed into a fine farm. He was married in 1877 to Maria Meyer, and the couple took over the old homestead upon the death of Mr. Heidemann’s parents.

Five years ago they turned the farm over to their son Otto and have been living in retirement at Millhome for the past four years. Mr. Heidemann was a man of
honesty and integrity, and served his town as Supervisor and School Treasurer several terms. His passing will be deplored by his neighbors and many friends.

The survivors are his widow, two sons and two daughters as follows: E. F. Heidemann of Thorp and Otto C. on the home farm, Mrs. Otto Kletzien and Mrs. Arvin Schmidt of Schleswig. One child died in infancy. Nineteen grandchildren also survive him and one sister, Mrs. C. R. Zorn of Kiel.

The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon at 1:30 from the late home with interment in the Kiel cemetery.
Rev. O. Saewert of Schleswig will officiate.
